Peggy Glass Is First Woman

to Be TWCA President

 

Austin, Texas – May 12, 2005 – Alan Plummer Associates, Inc. (APAI) announces that Peggy Glass, Ph.D., executive vice – president and principal of the firm, is president of the Texas Water Conservation Association (TWCA). Named by the TWCA Board of Directors, Glass’ position became effective in March 2005. Glass is the first woman to serve as president in the TWCA’s 60-year history.

“I am pleased that policymakers in the water resources field have recognized Peggy and that she has gained their confidence to lead the TWCA,” said Alan Plummer, president of APAI.

Glass has spent 35 years evaluating and providing assistance with technical, regulatory, and financial requirements for a wide variety of water resource projects that often include complex environmental issues. Prior to joining the private sector in 1979, Glass was with the Texas Department of Water Resources (now TCEQ) for more than six years. She served as the Assistant Director of Construction Grants and Water Quality Management Planning.

Glass joined APAI in 1988 and is now a principal and executive vice-president with the firm. At APAI, Glass coordinates the application and negotiation of TCEQ discharge permits for wastewater facilities throughout the state. She also serves as technical advisor to municipalities, authorities, and agencies in issues dealing with water quality and water resources.

Glass served as special consultant to the Texas Municipal League and the Texas Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies (TAMSA) to assist them in evaluating and commenting on proposed Texas Water Quality Standards. Glass is also a member of the TCEQ Work Group on Nutrient Water Quality Standards and the Water Quality Work Group.

Actively involved in the TWCA for more than ten years, Glass serves on the Policy Committee, chairs the Nutrient Criteria Committee, and is currently co-chair of the Water Quality Committee.

TWCA is a statewide organization dedicated to the task of conserving, developing, protecting, and utilizing Texas’s water resources. Members include individuals, firms, corporations, cities, water districts and authorities, as well as public and private agencies.
